4 Ways to Change Your Blog or Website into Income. Every business has a blog lately, so it takes effort to stand out from the crowd and turn readers into prospective customers. You can publish interesting content that attracts traffic to your website, but if your blog is not optimized for conversion, the visitor is basically useless.

All website traffic and the appearance of blog pages in the world is nil unless it is changed to referrals and, ultimately, revenue for your business. In addition to content that will attract the attention of your readers, you need to focus on providing a simple user interface (UI) and a pleasant user experience (UX). Here are some simple tips to help you optimize your blog, turning it into a lead making machine.

1. Design your layout to attract the attention of your users.

A nice simple layout that allows visitors to quickly read - or read at a glance - through your content is a must. Using headlines and short paragraphs with the right size makes content easier to digest. Also, set expectations for time at the beginning, to reduce skimming.

Here, in Entrepreneurs, you will see each post has an estimated reading time at the beginning of each article. By seeing "5 minutes of reading", the reader can find out how much time is needed to read the content completely. You want them to read the entire content, because if done correctly, there will be an invitation to act. If your content is skimmed, you will have fewer conversion opportunities.

Apart from the actual content section, you will want to make sure you have a clear search function, as well as a blog category - if the reader enjoys what he just read, make sure they can quickly explore more than you content. To encourage additional content engagement, show related posts at the bottom. If your blog is based on WordPress, there are many free plugins to choose from.

2. Encourage involvement.

Not every post will become viral - there is a slim possibility for nothing to happen for the most part. But, there is the possibility of content resonating with your audience, triggering them to share on social media with connections of those who are of the same mind, who might also be your target audience.

Make sure you have easy-to-find social sharing options and allow comments on your blog, but also try to combine ways to get involved with hard statistics or statements throughout your content.

A simple and effective tool (also free) is a click to tweet plugin, allowing you to easily share parts of your text on Twitter. This option is my favorite and can be set in a few seconds. When you have statistics, news, or information that is difficult enough to attract attention, make tweetable in one click. The goal is to get people to scroll their feeds to see them, stop scrolling, and click on your content.

You need to encourage engagement, even if your industry is not the most attractive. Take the example of a law firm. Someone who reads content on an official blog has a completely different mindset than someone who reads blog posts on supplement websites that encourage visitors to buy protein powder.

Someone who reads legal content more than likely looks for solutions to problems that need immediate attention. Therefore, the engagement you want to trigger must be in accordance with these immediate needs.

You can't expect to make engagement from the air empty - you need to provide several ways for your visitors to get involved.

3. Constantly breaking the content format and choosing a location.

Blogs that stick to text-based posts become stale quickly. It is a good idea to test various content formats, such as videos and infographics. I am a great advocate of infographics, because they tend to attract attention and are very easy to share.

You can even take infographics to the next level, more than static images, like this example that I met when writing this article. Not only animated, but also has several opt-in offers throughout the content. There are five opt-in forms that are included in the infographic and live-chat options.

You will not know what type of content your audience likes or what type of opt-in offer they will bite unless you share a variety of tests. Continue to test and analyze your data, constantly making adjustments to increase your conversion rate. Never assume - always test.

4. To improve user performance and experience, Use Google AMP.

With most of your blog traffic likely to come from a mobile device, speed is the key and should be the main focus. Google introduced AMP in October 2015 with a simple goal: to increase the speed of web pages accessed through mobile devices.
