How To Writing Book in 10 Simple Steps. How to really write a book. In this post, I will show you the basic steps you need to write a book. I have worked hard to make it easy to digest and very practical, so you can start making progress.

But first, let's look at the big picture. What is needed to write a book? It happens in three phases:
  • Beginning: You must start writing. This sounds obvious, but that is probably the most overlooked step in the process. You write a book by deciding in advance what you will write and how you will write it.
  • Stay motivated: Once you start writing, you will face self-doubt and be overwhelmed and hundreds of other enemies. Planning ahead for these obstacles ensures you won't stop when they come.
  • Finishing: Nobody cares about the book you almost wrote. We want to read that you are really done, which means that no matter what, the thing that makes you a writer is your ability not to start the project, but to solve it.

Below are 10 simple tips included in these three main phases plus 10 additional bonus tips. I hope they help you overcome and complete the book you dreamed of writing. We all have to start somewhere. By writing a book, the first phase consists of four parts:

1. Decide what the book is about

Good writing is always about something. Write the argument of your book in a sentence, then expand it into one paragraph, and then to the one-page line. After that, write the table of contents to help guide you as you write, then separate each chapter into sections. Think about your book in terms of the beginning, middle, and end. Anything more complicated will get you lost.

2. Set the target daily word count

John Grisham began his writing career as a new lawyer and father - in other words, he was really busy. Even so, he wakes up one or two hours early every morning and writes one page a day. After a few years, he has a novel. One page a day is only about 300 words. You don't need to write much. You only need to write frequently. Setting daily goals will give you something to aim for. Make it small and achievable so you can reach your goals every day and start building momentum.

3. Determine the time to work on your book everyday

Consistency makes creativity easier. You need to set a daily deadline, to do work - that's how you finish writing a book. Make a schedule beforehand, so you don't hesitate to travel. Never let the deadline pass; don't let yourself escape easily. Setting a daily deadline and regular writing time will ensure that you don't need to think about when you will write. When it's time to write, it's time to write.

4. Write in the same place every time

It doesn't matter if it's a table or restaurant or kitchen table. It just needs to be different from where you do other activities. Make the location of your writing a special space, so that when you enter it, you are ready to work. This should remind you of your commitment to completing this book. Again, the purpose here is not to think and start writing.

Now, it's time to start a business. Here, we will focus on the next three tips to help you complete the book:

5. Set the total number of words

Start with the final goal. After you start writing, you need the total number of words for your book. Think about increasing 10,000 jobs and separating each chapter into more or less the same length. Following are some general guiding principles:
  • 10K words = pamphlets or white business papers. Read time = 30-60 minutes.
  • 20K words = short eBook or manifest. The Communist Manifesto is an example of this, around 18K words. Read time = 1-2 hours.
  • 40K–60K words = standard / novella nonfiction books. The Great Gatsby is an example of this. Read time = three to four hours.
  • 60K–80K words = standard long nonfiction books / standard novels. Most of Malcolm Gladwell's books fall into this range. Reading time = four to six hours.
  • 80K words - 100K words = very long nonfiction books / long novels. Four Hour Workweek falls within this range.
  • 100K+ words = epic-length novels / academic books / biographies. Reading time = six to eight hours. The biography of Steve Jobs will fit this category.

6. Give yourself a weekly deadline

You need a weekly goal. Make a number of words to keep objective things. Celebrate the progress you make while remaining honest about how much work needs to be done. You must have something to aim for and how to measure yourself. This is the only way I finish work: with a deadline.

7. Get initial feedback

There is nothing worse than writing a book and then having to rewrite, because you don't let anyone see it. Ask some trusted advisers to help you distinguish what is worth writing. This can be a friend, editor, family. Try to find someone who will give you honest feedback early to make sure you are going in the right direction.

How do you know when you are done? Short answer: You don't. Not really. So this is what you do to finish the process of writing this book well:

8. Commit to the schedule

Complete the book, no matter what. Set your deadline correctly or ask for a set for you. Then release your book to the world. Send to the publisher, release it on Amazon, do whatever you need to do to get it in front of people. Don't put it in your drawer. The worst is you stop after this is written. It will not make you do your best job and it will not allow you to share your ideas with the world.

9. Embrace failure

As you approach the end of this project, know that this will be difficult and you will definitely mess up. Just be okay with failing, and give yourself a gift. That's what will support you - the determination to continue, not your standard of perfection that is difficult to understand.

10. Write another book

Most writers feel ashamed of their first book. Of course I am. But without that first book, you will never learn lessons that you might miss. So, put your work out there, fail early, and try again. This is the only way you get better. You have to practice, which means you have to keep writing.

Every writer starts somewhere, and most of them start by squeezing their writing into the gaps of their daily lives. That's how I started, and maybe also where you started. The people who make it are people who appear from day to day. You can do the same thing.

The reason most people never finish their books

Every year, millions of books don't finish. Books that can help people, bring beauty or wisdom to the world. But they never materialized. And in one way or another, the reason is always the same: the writer stops.

Maybe you have dealt with this. You started writing a book but never finished it. You are stuck and don't know how to solve it. Or you have completed the manuscript but don't know what to do afterwards. Even worse, you write a book, but no one cares about it. Nobody bought or read it.

I have been there before.

It took years to study it, but this is what no one has ever told me:
Before you can launch a bestseller, you must write it first. What I mean is that so many writers sit down to write their work, assuming it's all there for. Sit down, and start writing. But because I have studied the most talented and successful writers in the world, I realize that this is not what masters do. They are far more intentional than just sitting and letting the words flow.
